QuarkXPress 9 Announced

Quark announced today that the newest version of QuarkXPress will be released in April.  Quark is pretty well known as a standard in the publishing industry and this version offers new features and improvements geared towards the digital publisher.  One point of interest is the ability for QuarkXPress 9 to publish directly to the iPad, and other e-book formats.

New features include:

  • App Studio – This is a dedicated design environment to create and publish content on the iPad including apps and interactive content.
  • Blio eReader – Blio eReader is a multi-platform eBook app that QuarkXPress will also be able to publish to.
  • Design-driven Automation – More features that allow increased productivity by automatic common tasks.

QuarkExpress 9 will be available in April 2011 for $799, with upgrades for $299.  If you purchase QuarkXPress 8 after February 23rd, 2011 you will receive a free update.  App Studio will not be shipped upon launch, but will also be available as a free update within 90 days.
