Microsoft announced today the upgrade pricing for Windows 8, and it’s obvious they are taking the aggressive pricing approach.  Users who are running Windows all the way back to XP will be able to upgrade at the special price of just $39.99.  Another surprise is that users who upgrade will also be able to add the Media Center add-on for free.

A few more details:

“If you prefer to shop at a local store, a packaged DVD version of the upgrade to Windows 8 Pro will be available for $69.99 during this promotion.

This upgrade promotion for Windows 8 Pro both online and at retail runs through January 31st, 2013.”

I think this will help a great portion of users move to Windows 8, especially ones who are a bit hesitant to do so.
